The Clinical Nurse Consultant (Mental Health Services) is a leadership role focused on enhancing patient care and improving health outcomes. Provides expert clinical support and management within mental health services. Leads staff education, consultation, and development. Develops patient care models and system improvements. Engages in service planning and strategic leadership. Coordinates research and quality initiatives to enhance clinical practice. What you'll be doingThe Clinical Nurse Consultant (Mental Health Services) at WSLHD plays a key leadership role in managing patient care, staff development, and improving mental health service delivery. Provides expert clinical assessment and management. Offers consultancy and support to staff and patients. Leads staff training and education. Develops care models and service improvements. Engages in research and quality initiatives. Essential Requirements Registration: Current unrestricted Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Selection Criteria Minimum five years full time equivalent post graduate qualification experience, with at least three years full time equivalent experience in the speciality and post graduate qualification in field of practice, or working towards same. Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing/midwifery practice. Demonstrated advanced communication and inter-personal skills across a variety of mediums and proven application of the practice development framework to clinical practice, including effective verbal, written and negotiation skills and intermediate computer skills. Demonstrated ability to implement changes and develop direction in clinical practice by the initiation, utilisation and review of evidence-based research. Demonstrated leadership in strategic and clinical service planning and expertise in the management of organisational and cultural change. Proven advanced skills in clinical teaching, competency in the use of contemporary information systems and evidence of ability to direct the development of educational programs.
