About the role The Mater Mothers' Hospital currently has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Midwife to work within our Public Postnatal unit on a permanent part time basis, working 32 hours per week.
The successful applicant will provide clinical midwifery leadership and management on a day-to-day basis and deliver evidence-based care to women ranging from the care of normal, low risk women through to complex obstetric and medical care requiring an extensive multidisciplinary approach.
As a Clinical Midwife, you will be responsible for practicing with advanced clinical competence in the provision of quality and cost-effective care in consultation with other members of the health care team. This includes providing support and direction to other staff while role modelling and promoting professional standards of practice and conduct.
Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards, you will be responsible for:
Actively contributing towards the Quality, Safety and Work, Health and Safety processes in the clinical areaSupporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provisionProvide clinical guidance, leadership and education to members of the clinical team in order to ensure consistent and collaborative implementation of improvement activitiesAchieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of careDemonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding careMaintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growthAbout you To be successful in your application for this position it is essential that you have:
Current Midwifery registration with AHPRASignificant post-graduate midwifery experienceAdvanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of nursing/midwifery practiceEffective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care within the multidisciplinary teamCommitment to the continuous improvement of health care and midwifery practice, and to continuing professional development of self and others.Willingness to commit to and role model the Mater valuesYou will be working in a fast-paced environment that requires someone who is enthusiastic, able to show initiative and work well in a team. The ideal candidate for the position will be approachable with a mature and confident attitude.
