The RFDS WA Strategy 2024 – 2028 strives to make a positive difference to the health and well-being of people living and working in regional Western Australia. One of the focus areas will be to expand our Primary Health Care services for a bigger community impact. One of these initiatives is the establishment of an inaugural RFDS General Practice Clinic in Kalgoorlie, partnered with the Kalgoorlie Campus of the Curtin Goldfields University Department of Rural Health (GUDRH). The objective of the clinic will be to provide practical experiences to support the GUDRH students and help the community of Kalgoorlie and wider Goldfields region to manage their health, including preventative healthcare and health promotion.
About You RFDS WA is looking for a Clinical Lead General Practitioner, who will provide clinical leadership for the RFDS General Practice Clinic, and support the delivery of high-quality care to patients and the community. You will need to have prior experience working in a clinical leadership position, and hold your AHPRA Medical Registration, along with specialist qualifications of FRACGP or FACRRM. 
The role is a permanent full-time position, based in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Our preference is for the successful candidate to reside in Kalgoorlie. 
About the Role Support the delivery of and commitment to quality, patient outcome focused care working closely with the Practice Manager to develop and deliver efficient and effective care and service delivery Provide clinical care to patients Provide clinical leadership and support to the General Practitioners, Primary Health Care Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Allied Health Practitioners and Students where applicable Create a strong sense of working as a team, promoting multi-disciplinary teamwork and clinical excellence by motivating and developing each clinician individually and as part of a team Manage clinical issues at practice level for all clinical team members Provide input with regard to development of clinical protocols/procedures, using evidence based practices and ensuring they meet the standards required for accreditation  In collaboration with the Practice Manager to support the development, delivery and review of the practice processes and procedures Support in the recruitment and onboarding of clinical Employees Oversee the training of all clinical employees and students (medical, nursing and allied health) ensuring relevant university and college requirements are met In collaboration with Practice Manager orientation of new clinical staff to the clinic and RFDS Western Operations Primary Health Care Service. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. RFDS crews are committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of the State, using the highest standards of clinical care, aviation safety and technology to make a difference to people living and working across WA – the largest and most remote health jurisdiction in the world.
The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.
In 2024, the RFDS is launching a new five-year strategy 'Above and Beyond', which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history. The strategy will include a focus on expanding remote health clinics in some of WA's most vulnerable communities, expanding our profit-for-purpose services, strengthening our workforce, harnessing technology and addressing our environmental sustainability.
