The Role:
We are seeking a Clinical Director of Medicine to take on a leadership role in a rural regional location. It is essential you are a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
Friendly community Regional, rural and remote $$$ incentives Permanent full-time role available, 76 hours p.f. Recently undergone huge redevelopment!! A dual Fellowship in a relevant specialty will be highly regarded. Competitive pro rata remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value up to $562,559 p.a. comprising: Up to $70,000 in incentive payments may be available under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme. 5 weeks annual recreational leave accumulation with 17.5% loading when taken Generous employer contribution to superannuation of 12.75% Attraction and retention incentive allowance of 35-50% base annual salary Regional and rural attraction allowance of 15% base annual salary Motor vehicle allowance Professional development allowance and leave of 3.6 weeks p.a. Inaccessibility allowance. As the Director of Medicine, you will have overall responsibility for the management and operation of the medical department while leading and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will be a highly experienced physician with clinical expertise, academic abilities, and professional qualities that facilitate excellent communication and collaborative relationships to work effectively within the medical discipline and with the Executive Director of Medical Services (EDMS), fellow directors, and colleagues across and outside NWHHS to ensure seamless service integration.

About the role:
The successful candidate will be a highly experienced physician who is able to bring professional qualities to the role which includes being an effective communicator and multidisciplinary team player, bringing with them the attributes of clinical expertise, academic abilities, and professional qualities.
The Director of Medicine has oversight for medical service delivery which includes the following elements: The Medical Ward (22 bed unit) admitting to General Medicine with 2 dedicated palliative care beds. General Medicine specialist outpatient clinics. Specialist outreach patient services to Mount Isa including Nephrology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Respiratory, and Gastroenterology are managed through a combination of onsite and telehealth clinical delivery. Remote outreach to our communities occurs in high-volume specialties, in particular Nephrology and Cardiology/Rheumatic Heart Disease. A 10-chair on-site Renal Unit and remote community. A 6-chair Cancer Care Unit (under the governance of Townsville HHS). A 5-bed open Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency Unit supported by both the Anaesthetics team for critical interventions and Townsville HHS intensivists. The Hospital:
The Hospital and Health Service covers an area of over 300,000 square kilometres and services the rural and remote communities. It has developed into the major referral hospital for the region, with smaller satellite hospitals. It offers primary, secondary, and community health services in addition to specialist services such as anaesthetics, paediatrics, psychiatry, surgery, and obstetrics & gynaecology. It also hosts a range of clinics in specialty and sub-specialty services.
Location:
Affectionately known as the 'oasis of the outback', it is a gleaming mirage on the horizon for travellers from all directions. A melting pot of culture and industry, home to the world's third largest rodeo. It's grown from strength to strength over the years, it has ample places to fish, camp or relax and enjoy an outback sunset. The rugged terrain is a four-wheel-driver's haven, and visitors can explore the region just as the pioneers of the region did many years ago.
Requirements: Hold current general and specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner. Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). A dual Fellowship in a relevant specialty will be highly regarded. Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences. How do I Apply?
