The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated professional to join our client team on a landmark $500M wastewater infrastructure project, focused on the construction of a major pump station.

The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of experience in wastewater infrastructure, pump station projects, or similar civil engineering works.

As a key player in the project team, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day inspections of contractor workmanship, including quality and safety of work on site, reporting back to senior managers. As a clerk of works, you'd be conducting regular site inspections and checking that building plans are being followed correctly.

This is a site-based role, requiring hands-on participation and a keen willingness to assimilate within a supportive team environment and culture.

Experience Project Oversight: Adept understanding of plans and specification of large-scale infrastructure projects and the ability to recognise construction details, quality standards, material usage.Pump Station Expertise: Apply your knowledge of wastewater infrastructure and pump stations to manage specific components of the project, ensuring technical specifications and quality standards are met.Stakeholder Communication: Build and maintain relationships with contractors, suppliers, clients, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.Site Coordination: Attend site daily and participate in pre-start meetings before 7:00 am to brief the team and ensure all safety protocols and project objectives are understood.Safety & Compliance: Ensure all on-site activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, and promote a culture of safety awareness across the project team.Defect Management: Identifying, monitoring, and resolving defects to minimise rework.Compliance: Ensuring the works comply with statutory regulations and laws through regular safety and structural integrity inspections.Progress Reporting: Providing clients with concise reports on findings, progress, and potential risks.Problem Solving: Act as a point of contact for resolving on-site challenges, making decisions, and escalating issues where necessary.Documentation & Record Keeping: Ensure accurate record-keeping of the project, progress reports, and safety documents.Teamwork: Actively participate as part of the broader project team, demonstrating professionalism, collaboration, and a desire to participate in teamwork.Skills and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in civil / mechanical engineering, construction management, or similar will be advantageous.10-15 years of experience working on wastewater infrastructure projects, pump stations, or similar civil projects. Aligned industry experience will be considered.Knowledge of wastewater systems, pump stations, and civil construction methodologies.Familiarity with project management software and tools.Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a dynamic work environment.You will need a valid driver's licence to attend the project site day to day.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with the project team and wider organisation.Remuneration and Benefits You can expect a collaborative and professional work environment.You will work alongside a growing team of highly skilled professionals who love what they do.

This is a 2-year contract including a full-time, site-based role requiring attendance at the project site surrounding the western suburbs of Melbourne. Candidates must be prepared for early starts (before 7am) and be comfortable working in a dynamic and hands-on construction environment.
