The Legislative Assembly also supports flexible work, with work from home arrangements for staff considered. On sitting days, Clerk-Assistants can be required to work until the adjournment of the House which can be outside of regular working hours. Staff are compensated for these additional hours of work under the Crown Employees (Parliament House Conditions of Employment) Award. On non-sitting days regular flex-time arrangements apply. About the position There are three Clerk-Assistant positions in the Department in each of the three business units – House & Procedure, Scrutiny & Engagement (Committees) and Office of the Clerk. These positions are rotational, to provide members of the Department's leadership team with exposure to all operational areas. This capacity to rotate between positions also enables a flexible approach to meet the Department's changing business needs. Clerk Assistants lead a business unit and its people, promote a positive work culture and environment, and model the Department's values of integrity, respect, and excellence. They provide officeholders, Members of Parliament and other key stakeholders with information and independent advice on parliamentary law, practice, and procedure. Clerk Assistants are also members of the Department's senior leadership team and are responsible for delivering on projects and outcomes under Department's Corporate Plan and the Parliament's Strategic Plan.
