This position is often the first 'technical' person the patient encounters in the clinic where the primary duty is to gather information and counsel the patient. You will provide quality care to patients in preparation for consultation with the Ophthalmologists and further treatment if required. You will be responsible for all aspects of the 'work-up' as well as preparation and quoting for surgery. This involves comprehensive visual testing to ensure care is suitable, appropriate and best practice.

Tasks & Responsibilities Position Activities Include:
Perform, record and report on patient's history, signs & symptoms as well as patient's perception of the problem. Perform & record all visual testing – visual acuity, objective refractions, keratometry, subjective refractions, IOP measurements & pupil examinations. Manage the flow of the doctor's rooms as an integral part of the role. Ensure patient flow is adequate to keep doctor consultations optimal and on time. Fast track emergency, surgical & minor operations. Conduct pre-operative counselling and surgical bookings. Carry out administration duties as detailed in the manual. Participate in training and further education when required. Collate and organize surgical patient lists. Biometric calculations and coordination of lens selection. Qualification & Experience An undergraduate qualification in a related field is required; an undergraduate qualification in Orthoptics or a highly skilled Optometrist would be highly advantageous.
At least 2 years' experience in a related field is favorable.

Salary: $73,000 - $77,000
