The key duties of the position include
We are seeking to fill the Director, Facilities & Security role in the Library's Property and Sustainability Branch on an ongoing basis.
As the Director, Facilities and Security you will be a member of the Property and Sustainability Branch leadership team and will be responsible for ensuring the Library's facilities, sustainability and security policies and practices align with legislative and regulatory requirements as well as contemporary APS and industry standards.
In this role you will drive continuous improvement ensuring the ongoing effectiveness of the Library's facilities, sustainability and protective security frameworks, policy and programs.
You will also develop and maintain a multi-year routine maintenance and asset replacement program to address and reduce maintenance backlogs, and frame business case and funding submissions.
You will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and develop key strategic relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including working groups and external bodies.
As the Director, Facilities & Security you will have representative responsibilities in a variety of roles including Chief Security Officer, Deputy Emergency Coordinator within the Library's Business Continuity Committee as well as acting as the building owner representative, working in partnership with the Library's Capital Works and Collection Storage section.
As a section leader you will have high level capability for the leadership and management of the Facilities and Security section.
Responsibilities include operations planning, budget management, team performance and wellbeing as well as team capability and development.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Our ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements as well as knowledge of heritage management obligations.
They will have proven leadership qualities and demonstrated experience in procurement and program management as well as a proven ability to confidently manage complex high-risk and sensitive facilities, sustainability and security related matters.
To be considered for this exciting role you will require:
Qualifications or equivalent extensive experience in related fields (facilities management, security, heritage management, trade and mechanical construction).
Sound knowledge of Commonwealth procurement and contract management requirements.
Experience in developing, implementing and managing asset replacement, routine facilities and security programs in owned and/or heritage-listed buildings to reduce backlog maintenance is highly desirable.
