Advertised Vacancy Number: SS/SS897467This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2,2024"Diligence, Courage and Strength'Derby District High School (DHS) is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the position of Cleaner in Charge.Professional BenefitsWorking for the Department of Education can attract the following benefits: Travel ConcessionAir-conditioning subsidyDistrict Allowance plus other miscellaneous allowances where applicable For additional information please see relevant As a team leader, the successful applicant will ideally have good communication and interpersonal skills.You will inspire and lead a team of cleaning staff to ensure the school environment is maintained in accordance with Department of Education policies and procedures.You should have a sound knowledge of cleaning equipment, products and safe cleaning procedures, methods and practices.You will also provide on the job induction training for all new cleaning staff, conduct monthly cleaning inspections as well as record and respond to issues and concerns detailed in the communications book.You will liaise with the Manager Corporate Services on all cleaning matters and be responsible for monitoring and ordering stock supplies, the ongoing management of the site ChemAlert program and stocktake of cleaning resources.The successful applicant will be responsible for closing the school, including setting the security alarm system, carrying out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal, and other general cleaning.You will also carry out external cleaning duties, including the cleaning of verandas and covered areas, rubbish removal, cleaning of drinking troughs, window cleaning and removal of cobwebs.Additionally, you will be required to complete vacation cleaning duties, which may include the stripping and sealing of vinyl floors, shampooing of carpets, pressure cleaning of verandas and undercover areas, and other such duties as required.Derby DHS is located in attractive and well-maintained grounds and surroundings and is currently undergoing a substantial building program.With an enrolment of over 600 students, it provides an education program for students from Kindergarten to Year 12.Students attend the school from the town of Derby and outlying areas including the Aboriginal communities of Mowanjum and Pandanus Park.The Department is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
