The Opportunity
As we continue our ambitious growth trajectory, we seek an exceptional Client-side Account Director - Defence to join our business during this pivotal phase of expansion. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to lead the account.
You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team comprising commercial, operations, service, and resource recovery specialists to exceed contracted objectives and ensure an enhanced customer experience.
The Account Director - Defence will drive optimisation while ensuring full compliance with the contract's Statement of Work (SOW), pricing structure, and Service Delivery Plan. A significant aspect of this role is overseeing the resource recovery roadmap, which aims to achieve 80% landfill diversion by 2030.
Central to your success will be effective stakeholder management, maintaining sound and ethical business relationships between the stakeholders, where together with Defence we will work in a respectful and partnership role, one that is based on the highest standards of integrity, due diligence and trust.
Develop and strengthen long-term customer relationships through strategic engagement, regular communication and high-level contract management.
Use data-driven insights to develop and implement strategies for optimisation, service improvement and resource recovery.
Lead and motivate a team of 10 professionals.
Collaborate seamlessly with the operational teams to ensure alignment and synergy across all service offerings.
Identify and grow Share of Wallet opportunities across the broader Cleanaway service offerings to maximise account value.
About You
To thrive in this strategic leadership role, you will bring extensive experience managing complex national accounts within a large-scale organisation (ASX-listed or similar). You are highly skilled in relationship management and commercial contract review with a proven history of success driving customer retention and growth.
Client-side senior leadership role with Defense and multidisciplinary Estate work will be highly regarded. Your ability to lead a diverse, high-performing team and manage multiple stakeholders in a complex, multi-contractor environment will be critical to your success. Minimum of 10+ years' experience in National Account Management or a comparable strategic role within a large organisation. Expertise in negotiating contracts, managing complex relationships, and building long-term partnerships in a multifaceted environment. Proven track record in customer engagement and working with operational teams to deliver superior customer outcomes. Exceptional financial acumen with the ability to manage and optimise profitability across large accounts. Strong leadership skills, with a history of leading, developing, and motivating teams to exceed objectives. Results-oriented, with a focus on driving outcomes and long-term growth. Benefits:
