Location ProfileSunbury Downs College is a vibrant Year 7 to 12 co-educational secondary college situated in the semi-rural of Sunbury. It has a growing enrolment of around 650 students and offers a rich educational experience with high expectations and strong student management. The College emphasizes core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, and Physical Education, along with VCE subjects including some VETiS studies and a structured VCE Vocational Major program in Years 11-12.
The College offers an Accelerated Curriculum and Enrichment (ACE) program for students in Years 7-9 and a Scholars program for Years 10 and 11. It also provides a variety of inclusive activities such as Debating, Maths Club, Drama Club, and a House and Sports program.

Selection CriteriaSC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Experience in responding to student learning needs.
SC2: Experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student growth.
SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student achievement.
SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
SC5: Behaviors and attitudes consistent with Department values. Experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to improve teaching quality.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges: range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes. Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students.
Range 2 teachers assist in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to school policies and priorities. They are expected to model exemplary practice, mentor other teachers, provide expert advice on professional learning, supervise student teachers, and assist staff in using data to inform teaching approaches.
Range 1 teachers focus on developing skills to become effective practitioners, teaching a range of students/classes and participating in school policy development and co-curricular activities.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum areas;Undertaking other teaching-related and organizational duties as determined by the Principal;Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions;Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
