Lakeview Senior College is located in the rapidly developing suburb of Caroline Springs, approximately 20 kilometres west of Melbourne. It is a government secondary school educating students from Years 10 to 12. The College has a student population of around 955 in 2023, allowing for an extensive selection of subjects at each year level tailored to individual needs.
Year 10 students at Lakeview study a broad range of subjects to prepare them for their final 2 years of schooling. Year 11 & 12 students select either a VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) or VCE-VM course (Vocational Major). Lakeview Senior College has formed partnerships with local schools to offer a wider variety of VET (Vocational Education & Training) courses.
The courses offered facilitate the lifelong development and growth of students in an environment where they can achieve success and contribute to society. Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills and respond to student learning needs. SC2: Experience in planning and implementing high impact teaching strategies and evaluating their impact on student learning growth. SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice. SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills, establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. SC5: Behaviours consistent with Department values and a commitment to professional learning to improve teaching quality. Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes. Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve their skills and effectively engage students.
Range 2 classroom teachers assist in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to school policies and priorities. They model exemplary practice and mentor other teachers.
Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills and competencies under guidance, teaching a range of students/classes and participating in policy development and co-curricular activities.
Responsibilities Direct teaching of groups and individual students; Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum; Undertaking classroom teaching-related and organizational duties; Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions; Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.
