The school caters for a well-established residential neighbourhood. The original rural school is now the administration area of the present school. Development of new housing estates has resulted in significant enrolment increases.In 2024 there are 949 students enrolled with 1 Principal, 3 Assistant Principals, 2 Teaching and Learning Coaches, 65 Generalist Teachers, 1 Literacy Intervention teacher, Tutors, 33 Educational Support staff, 1 Student Counsellor, 1 Social worker and 2 Speech Pathologists. There are 43 classes, all of which were single year level classes.AT MSPS we administer, collate and analyse student data to inform teaching and learning as well as Intervention programs. We use High Impact Teaching Strategies including setting goals, structured lessons, explicit teaching, collaborative learning, multiple exposures with an ongoing focus on differentiated teaching supported by an external consultant. We constantly strive to adopt best practice by keeping informed of new initiatives based on educational theory and research.The school offers a range of well-resourced specialist subjects including French, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics), Visual Arts, ICT (Information Communication Technology) and Physical Education. ICT is utilised to enhance teaching and learning programs with a school funded netbook program for Prep to Year 6.The school prides itself on its inclusive approach catering for ethnic diversity. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.As the classroom teacher gains experience his or her contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties provided the responsibility is appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training and experience of the teacher.ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.EEO AND OHS CommitmentApplicants seeking part-time employment are encouraged to apply for any teaching service position and, if they are the successful candidate, request a reduced time fraction.
