A new College in Hawdon Street will be completed and ready for occupation in 2022.
A Rural Annex is also an integral component of the College and has been created to serve the needs of the students requiring more supports than are available in the mainstream settings.Greater Shepparton City Council (GSCC), located 180 kilometres north of Melbourne, with a population of 66,000, is the fifth-largest city in regional Victoria and consists of Shepparton City, Mooroopna and Tatura.
The area is a culturally and linguistically diverse community with almost one quarter of the population born overseas, including recent arrivals and refugees from Africa and the Middle East.The establishment of the new Secondary College in Shepparton is the initial phase of the Shepparton Education Plan, which aims to improve educational outcomes for P-12 and beyond.
The plan will improve transitions, pathways and opportunities for students through improving teacher capacity, resources and a contemporary school infrastructure.The development of the new Secondary College in Shepparton provides exciting opportunities for the successful applicant to contribute to the transformation of secondary curriculum, pedagogy and student connection and to build community participation and ownership of the new school.On completion, the school will include:Approximately 2500 students arranged in nine houses of 300 year 7-12 students.New school facilities with contemporary shared teaching and learning spaces and specialist areasHubs for specialist subject delivery, including a STEM Enterprise Centre of Excellence, and student wellbeingThis is a significant career opportunity to reframe the trajectory of a community through prioritising the education of its young people.Selection CriteriaSC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs.SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning.
Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community.SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges- range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.As the classroom teacher gains experience, their contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases.
All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties provided the responsibility is appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training and experience of the teacher.Classroom teacher Range 2Range 2 classroom teachers play a significant role in assisting the school to improve student performance and educational outcomes determined by the school strategic plan and state-wide priorities.Have the content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all studentsModel exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers in the schoolProvide expert advice about the content, processes and strategies that will shape individual and school professional learningSupervise and train one or more student teachersAssist staff to use student data to inform teaching approachesClassroom teacher Range 1The primary focus of the range 1 classroom teacher is on further developing skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner.
