Location Profile Lalor North Primary School leads Victoria in Bilingual Education with two Bilingual Programs.
The Greek Bilingual Program was established in 1977 and the Macedonian Program in 1984.

This position requires the applicant to be fluent in the Macedonian language which includes reading, writing, speaking and listening.

Lalor North Primary School was established in 1971 and is situated in the North Western Victoria Region.
The school population consists of 300 students from diverse multicultural backgrounds.
A comprehensive curriculum is offered from Prep to Year Six based on the Victorian Curriculum with emphasis on differentiation to meet all student learning needs.

Students are enrolled in one of three curriculum programs: The Standard Curriculum Program, The Greek Bilingual Curriculum Program, or The Macedonian Bilingual Curriculum Program.
Our bilingual programs enjoy tremendous support from local communities and are internationally recognised by the governments of Greece and Northern Macedonia.

Approximately 65% of our students have a language background other than English.
Our programs are built on this rich heritage and identity, and we accommodate overseas students with appropriate support.

Selection Criteria SC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills, and experience in responding to student learning needs.

SC2: Experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.

SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching practice and provide feedback on student learning growth to students and parents.

SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.

SC5: Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, with experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to improve teaching quality.

Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes.
Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students.

As teachers gain experience, their contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases.
All classroom teachers may be required to undertake other duties in addition to their rostered teaching duties.

Responsibilities The role may include but is not limited to:

Direct teaching of groups and individual students; Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a curriculum area or program; Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal; Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions; Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
