The school is nestled in a picturesque location beside the southern ocean in spacious and inviting gardens and grounds. Warrnambool East Primary School offers a stimulating learning environment and a diverse curriculum to 500 students in Foundation to Year 6.Warrnambool East PS places learning and wellbeing at the centre and implements the Victorian Curriculum with a strong emphasis on English (Structured Literacy) and Mathematics learning with precise and explicit teaching at point of need within rich authentic tasks and problems. The school is also a science specialist school and in a unique partnership with Deakin University Marine Science and Education Faculties and Melbourne Zoo, we are looking beyond the school years with a philosophy of providing education for life. Our student zookeepers care for the animals housed throughout the school. Our school wellbeing approach is grounded in positive education, principles of nurture, respectful relationships and zones of regulation, with a focus on teaching expected behaviours. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher engages in critical reflection and inquiry in order to improve knowledge and skills to effectively engage students and improve their learning.As the classroom teacher gains experience his or her contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases.
