Location ProfileFrankston Primary School was established in 1874 and currently has an enrolment of 253 students.
It is adjacent to the Frankston Business District, providing convenient access to the Frankston Arts Centre, beach, parks, library, Monash University, public transport, and many community services conducive to authentic educational opportunities.
The school has a strong focus on improving student learning outcomes in Numeracy and Writing and developing teacher practice to enhance learning outcomes.
Our focus is generated through evidence-based practice and includes building and embedding EDI (explicit direct instruction) as a core element of our instructional practice in literacy and numeracy.
Teaching Teams at Frankston Primary School collaborate to review and analyze data weekly to inform curriculum planning and learning, with each Team focused on building the capacity of teaching and student learning through effective PLC (Professional Learning Community) practice.
All teaching staff participate actively through our GROWTH Coaching, Peer Observation, and feedback model to support teacher professional learning, which is integral in building the capacity of classroom teacher practice and improving student learning outcomes.
Selection CriteriaSC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills and experience in responding to student learning needs.
SC2: Experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.
SC4: Interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
SC5: Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, with experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a curriculum area or other curriculum program within the school;Undertaking classroom teaching-related and organizational duties as determined by the School Principal;Participating in activities such as parent/teacher meetings; staff meetings; camps and excursions;Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
