Location ProfileHampton East School is a co-educational school that caters for a diverse range of students aged 5 to 18 with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities. We provide individualised learning for all students, believing they have skills to work, volunteer, and add value to the community. Selection CriteriaSC1: Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to incorporate literacy and numeracy skills. Experience in responding to student learning needs.
SC2: Experience in planning and implementing high impact teaching strategies, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student growth.
SC3: Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice, and providing feedback to students and parents.
SC4: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience establishing collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the broader school community.
SC5: Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, with experience in reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes, engaging in critical reflection to improve knowledge and skills.
As teachers gain experience, their contributions to the school program increase. All classroom teachers may undertake additional duties appropriate to their qualifications and experience.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students;Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum programs;Undertaking classroom teaching-related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal;Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps, and excursions;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
