Location ProfileMelton South Primary School (MSPS) was established in 1923 and is situated in the Shire of Melton approximately 35km west of Melbourne. The school caters for a well-established residential neighbourhood.
In 2024, there are 949 students enrolled with a dedicated staff including 1 Principal, 3 Assistant Principals, 2 Teaching and Learning Coaches, 65 Generalist Teachers, and various support staff.
At MSPS, we administer, collate, and analyse student data to inform teaching and learning as well as intervention programs. We use High Impact Teaching Strategies including goal setting, structured lessons, explicit teaching, and differentiated teaching supported by an external consultant.
The school offers a range of well-resourced specialist subjects including French, STEAM, Visual Arts, ICT, and Physical Education.

RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges - range 1 and range 2. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes.
As classroom teachers gain experience, their contribution to the school program beyond the classroom increases. All classroom teachers may be required to undertake additional duties appropriate to their qualifications and experience.
ResponsibilitiesThe principal is accountable for the overall management and development of the school within statewide guidelines and Government policies. Responsibilities include:
Ensure delivery of a comprehensive education program to all students.Establish and manage financial systems in accordance with requirements.Represent the Department in the school and local community.Contribute to system-wide activities, including policy and strategic planning.Manage and integrate resources available to the school.Involve staff, students, and the community in policy and program development.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
