Selection CriteriaSC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing high impact teaching strategies and evaluating their effectiveness.
SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching practice.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in establishing collaborative relationships to support student learning.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and a commitment to continual professional improvement.
SC6 Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the capacity to cater for students with diverse trauma backgrounds and educational needs.
RoleThe classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges: range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
Range 2 classroom teachers play a significant role in improving student performance and educational outcomes, mentoring other teachers, and providing expert advice on instructional practices.
Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing their skills under guidance and are accountable for effective program delivery.
ResponsibilitiesThe role may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students;Contributing to curriculum development and evaluation;Participating in parent/teacher meetings and staff meetings;Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
