Location ProfileDoveton College is a unique, diverse and vibrant learning community located in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne, in one of the most disadvantaged metropolitan regions of Australia.
It aims to support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, including high migrant and refugee groups.
The College provides high-quality teaching and learning programs for children aged 0-15 and additional learning opportunities for parents and community members.
With approximately 100 children in the Early Learning Centre, over 600 students in Foundation to Year 9, and various community programs, it serves as a hub for learning and support.
Selection CriteriaSC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies.
SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours consistent with Department values.
SC6 Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed practice.
RoleThe primary focus of the classroom teacher is on planning, preparation, and teaching programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve their skills.
ResponsibilitiesThe role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students;Contributing to curriculum development and evaluation;Participating in parent/teacher meetings and staff activities;Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
