Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2 Experience in planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies and evaluating their effectiveness.
SC3 Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform teaching practice.
SC4 Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in maintaining collaborative relationships.
SC5 Behaviors and attitudes consistent with Department values, reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning.
SC6 Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the capacity to cater for students with diverse educational needs.
Role The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges: range 1 and range 2. The primary focus is on planning, preparation, and teaching to achieve specific student outcomes.
Range 2 classroom teachers assist in improving student performance and educational outcomes, contributing to school policies and priorities.
Range 1 classroom teachers focus on developing skills and competencies, teaching a range of students, and participating in policy development and implementation.
Responsibilities The role of classroom teacher may include but is not limited to:
Direct teaching of groups and individual students. Contributing to curriculum development and evaluation. Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, and extracurricular activities. Undertaking non-teaching supervisory duties. Who May Apply Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach in the specified curriculum areas.
