Position: General Class Assistant - Upper Primary
Contract: Fixed-term part-time term-time contract for 2025
Hours: 4 days per week, 25 hours per week, Monday to Thursday
Starting: Tuesday, 28 January 2025 (Plus two pupil-free days: Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 January)
Ceasing: Thursday, 11 December 2025, with the possibility of an extension.

About the Role We seek an enthusiastic, committed and suitably qualified teacher's assistant for a primary composite class. This position's start date is Term 1 2025, and the hours are 25 hours per week during term time (40.4 weeks per year inclusive of two pupil-free days outside term time). Working hours are 8:15am-3pm Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and 8am-2:45pm on Tuesdays.
To be successful, you will: Have experience implementing specific skill-based intervention programs (literacy and numeracy).Possess good interpersonal skills and be self-motivated.Be able to communicate effectively and build relationships with students, colleagues, and the broader school community.Be willing to work as part of a small team and under the supervision of the Head of Primary.Demonstrate a proven ability to work with Class Directors to support differentiation and adjustments.Possess an ability to listen to, relate to and understand children and respond appropriately.Display flexibility in adapting to changing routines and teaching/learning situations.Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality appropriately.Have a commitment to working within the Montessori philosophy and practice (Current Montessori qualifications are preferred, not vital. However, you must be willing to complete the appropriate Montessori Assistant's course within the first three months of engagement).You must hold a minimum of: Certificate III in Education Support or Teacher's Assistant/Aide training or equivalent.Positive Notice Blue card (working with children check).Experience and/or working with children.Current First Aid and CPR Qualifications (HLTAID012 & HLTAID009).Applications are to be made to the attention of Head of Primary Naomi Whitehead and should include: Up-to-date resumeA written response (maximum 2 pages) on how your experience, abilities, knowledge and personal qualities would enable you to achieve the key responsibilities of the roleAt least two confidential referee direct line managers' contact details.
