Discover the Opportunity We have an exciting new opportunity available to join the Opal People Safety and Culture team as a Claims Specialist.
Based at Opal head office in Burnley, VIC the primary purpose of this role is to manage a portfolio of claims from inception to finalisation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
You will be the central point of contact for the injured worker in relation to their claim and provide RTW support to the Recover at Work Business Partner.
This role involves significant collaboration with multiple stakeholders with a focus on maximising return to work and return to health outcomes for claimants, consistently displaying initiative and leadership on a team and business level.
You will contribute to the success of Opal by:
Managing a portfolio of claims for the full life cycle of the claimAssessing and determining claims, including arranging medical assessments and investigationsInterpreting relevant legislation and compliance with WorkSafe claims manual and WIRC ActAssisting with file reviews in preparation for self-insurer self-audit program (SISAP) auditsEngaging on a regular basis with people leaders and the HR team to discuss claims and develop collaborative strategies for managementWe are able to offer a varied career journey with experiential learning gained from cross-functional and lateral moves.

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have:
At least 2 years' experience performing end to end claims management for a Self-Insurer under Victorian Workers CompensationGood working knowledge of medical and legal terminologyCompleted WorkSafe approved training as a Return-to-Work CoordinatorExperience in managing relationships and competing stakeholder prioritiesAbility to maintain composure in challenging situations while ensuring a focus on customer serviceAbility to manage multiple priorities to meet agreed deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and a good attention to detailFor more information please contact Annik Pearson on +61 3 9730 5451 or jump right in by sending us your CV.
