Your new career The Civil Operations Team provides maintenance service on all of the Council's civil assets - roads, drains, paths, signs, and other assets in the roadway, and you will be responsible for both proactive and reactive inspections.
This position plays a crucial role in supporting our people and community to thrive by providing excellent customer service and ensuring the quality of finished works within the Civil Operations unit.
What you will bring to the role This role requires effective communication skills to link Civil Works and our community through customer service interactions, whilst providing technically competent, consistent and professional auditing of the quality of finished works against Council's documented work standards.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal. The ability to be self-directed and take ownership of your workload. Exceptional attention to detail with good record keeping. Good people skills, building relationships both internally and with the public. Ideally, you would be available to be part of our after-hours roster.
Key selection Criteria
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements A trade certificate is desirable, but not essential, or several years' experience in a civil works area of local government or equivalent. Basic training in Occupational Health and Safety. A current Working With Children Check. You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia. Police Check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council). A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia. Desirable qualifications and experience Experience in a Local Government environment. Three years of prior experience in a similar role.
