This principal contractor has secured several large-scale defence projects across Australia, some valued at over $700M. These projects ensure a robust pipeline of work for the next five years.
Our client is focused on strategic growth and is seeking an accomplished Civil Estimator to join their dynamic team. This role will be pivotal in the "Civil Operations" pre-contracts discipline, contributing to the success of their ongoing and upcoming projects.
Key Qualifications and Experience: Excellent Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proactive & Flexible: Ability to self-manage, multitask, and adapt to changing project needs. Team Collaboration: Experience working in a team environment to ensure successful cost management and trade letting. Document Preparation: Proficient in assisting with the development of submission documentation. Organized & Methodical: Capable of working towards key deadlines in a structured and organized manner. Leadership & Mentorship: Willingness to lead and mentor emerging talent within the team. Relevant Experience: A minimum of 5 years' civil contracting experience in Australia, specifically in an estimating role within a mid or top-tier civil construction company. Key Responsibilities: Market Awareness: Stay informed about current and future tenders and market requirements. Collaborate with the Tender/Bid Coordinator to identify new opportunities. Tender Analysis: Prepare and distribute tender analyses, and lead the coordination, preparation, and presentation of tender pricing in line with company procedures. Contract Review: Evaluate proposed contracts and client-issued project preliminaries to assess scope impacts and price coverage requirements. Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify risks and opportunities in each tender, develop a Risk and Opportunity Report, and contribute to tender review assessments. Cost Management: Monitor design costs and propose practical cost-saving solutions to the Bid Manager and Design Team. The successful candidate will be a key leader within the team, with significant input into bid strategy and processes. Our client has a strong track record of delivering a diverse range of projects, including government infrastructure, Defence civil works, and complex flood mitigation projects.
Location: This role is based at in Darwin at the head office, with occasional short-term travel to various project sites.
