Preferably the position will be based at the corporate head office in Port Macquarie with the rest of the Civil Engineering Team. However, there is potential for the position to be based anywhere within Essential Energy's operational footprint. Both graduate and experienced civil engineers are encouraged to apply.As a Civil Engineer in our Civil Engineering Team, you will join an experienced, capable, and supportive team that provides professional civil and structural engineering services to the organisation, including:Development, management, and administration of the civil and structural engineering quality requirements/standards for design and construction of network assets (new assets and augmentation of existing assets).Subject Matter Expert (SME) advice on all civil and structural engineering matters.Civil and structural engineering design (in-house design).Construction phase inspection and support.Forensic engineering assessments.Structural condition assessments.Roadside risk assessments.Procurement and management of survey, geotechnical investigation, and environmental assessments.Procurement and management of external civil, structural, mechanical, and other engineering services.Liaison with external authorities such as TfNSW, Council, other utilities etc.Tender evaluations.As a Civil Engineer you will report to the Principal Civil Engineer and provide professional engineering services in relation to the following telecommunication, electrical overhead, electrical underground, and electrical substation network assets:Telecommunication towers (guyed mast and self-supporting) and associated infrastructureTransmission Towers (lattice)Transmission, Sub-Transmission and Distribution PolesBuildingsFoundations (pads, piles, bunds) for buildings, towers, poles, transformers, circuit breakersSteel support structures for substation equipmentFire wallsRetaining wallsAccess TracksBulk earthworks and pavementsBridges and creek crossingsStormwater drainageUnderground HV cableStreetlightsWater Treatment Plants & Sewerage Treatment Plants (as part of the Essential Water business)About YouTo be successful in this role, you will:Have demonstrated knowledge of concrete, steel, and timber design.Be flexible, self-motivated, well organized, and able to handle a varying complex workload.Have strong time management skills with excellent planning and organisational skills, along with a high degree of detail orientation.Have demonstrated capability to use analytical and technical knowledge to manage activities and identify appropriate solutions to technical/engineering matters.Have demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage diverse and complex issues.Be able to obtain and maintain currency in our Electrical Safety Rules (training delivered in-house).Required QualificationsBachelor of Engineering (Civil or Structural) to satisfy Professional Membership criterion of Engineers Australia or other Professional Body as aligned to the Washington Accord.Attainment and ongoing successful maintenance of all regulatory, industry and business required licenses, authorisations and other such certificates deemed necessary for the role.A Safework NSW "white card", a.k.a. general construction induction card (or willing to obtain).Current Australian Drivers Licence.Why Essential EnergyWe offer competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience and 16% superannuation.
