The Opportunity
Join our highly motivated team as a Civic Events Officer, where you will plan and deliver a range of civic events. This position involves working closely across the organisation and with funding partners including government departments to ensure civic events are delivered to a high standard in accordance with funding guidelines and relevant protocols.
Reporting to the Manager Advocacy and Government Relations you will collaborate with Council staff and external stakeholders to coordinate a forward program of events and deliver high-impact events. Your responsibilities will include planning, executing, and evaluating events, while building strong relationships with stakeholders to optimise event success.
This role requires flexibility to ensure effective delivery of operational outcomes. You will be required to occasionally work beyond standard hours, including evenings and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
Design, organise, and oversee all aspects of civic event execution, including logistics, operations, and evaluations. Coordination of speaking notes, photography briefs, quality event packs, presentations, run sheets. Support the development and manage event budgets and timelines, ensuring efficient logistical coordination. Implement and uphold Occupational Health and Safety and risk management strategies to ensure safe and compliant events. Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and support internal departments for smooth event delivery including meeting funding guideline requirements. About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
Tertiary qualification in Event Management or related discipline with some experience or lesser formal qualification with relevant experience. Proven expertise in event management including marketing and promotions, event evaluations, logistics and operations. Understanding of the principles of civic events and how this applies within a local government context. Current First Aid qualification. Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence. Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check. Culture and Values
