Our prime location between Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra, combined with an increase in business and industry as well as affordable prime industrial land, has attracted a number of Federal and State Government major infrastructure projects such as Inland Rail and the Wagga Wagga Special Activation Precinct.
Council is seeking a Wastewater & Stormwater – Infrastructure Planning Engineer to join our Sewer & Stormwater team. This position will be fundamental in leading and managing capital projects within our community, ensuring alignment with Council's Stormwater Assets – Management Plan.
Other key responsibilities will include: Investigate and plan wastewater and stormwater infrastructure projects involving wastewater treatment plants and wastewater reticulation (rising / pressure and gravity) and pumping systems, including low-pressure sewer systems, and stormwater infrastructure, including reticulation (rising / pressure and gravity) and pumping systems and floodgates. Assist with developing, implementing, and reviewing wastewater and stormwater asset management plans to renew, upgrade, and expand stormwater and wastewater infrastructure, including pipe networks, pump stations, dams, basins, and treatment plants. Provide input into developing long-term stormwater and wastewater strategies, such as the Integrated Water Cycle Management Plan, Strategic Business Plans, and Development Servicing Plans, as required. Prepare analytical data and a range of reports, documents, studies, and presentations, including but not limited to internal reports to management or Council; external reports to government agencies and funding bodies; and technical presentations for internal/external stakeholders. Manage and coordinate consultants, teams, and contractors for specific projects. Implement best practice design principles and standards to identify innovative design solutions. Liaise with service delivery sections, including Development Assessment & Building Certification and Subdivisions, regarding best practice design, including considering life cycle costs and/or the ability to build, maintain and manage implemented designs. Review applications for new development/connections to wastewater and stormwater networks. What we will offer: An attractive remuneration in accordance with skills and experience. What you will need to succeed: Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering; Class C Driver's Licence; and General Construction Induction Training Card.
