About the role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Governance Officer to join our Governance team.
Reporting to the Coordinator Governance Legal & Risk, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Risk Management Framework, providing governance support to both staff and elected members, and ensuring compliance with legislative functions.

Key responsibilities:
Implement and maintain the Risk Management Framework, ensuring the identification, monitoring, and reporting of risks across the organisation.
Support Council and Committee meetings, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and follow-up actions.
Provide governance support to staff and elected members, including advice on policies, compliance, and legal obligations.
Assist with the administration of local government elections, ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements.
Enhance governance and risk management through the development of training, awareness activities, and continuous improvements in processes.
About the successful candidate
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of risk management and governance, with experience in developing and implementing frameworks that align with best practices.
You will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a strong commitment to enhancing organisational capacity in governance and risk management.

Other essential requirements:
Tertiary qualification in business, management, or a related field, and/or demonstrated significant experience in risk management and governance, including the implementation and maintenance of risk management frameworks.
Experience in providing meeting management support including agenda and minutes preparation and meeting attendance and note taking.
Strong knowledge of the Local Government Act 1995 and relevant regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing reports and correspondence.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management.
A current and valid National Police Certificate.
What we offer
This full-time, permanent position offers a salary range of $81,874 - $111,058 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, plus super.
