About your new role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the City's growing Environmental Offset Program, which has restored over 151 hectares and secured $13 million in funding.
As part of a passionate team of five, you'll lead the delivery of the City's largest restoration project and manage offsets for infrastructure projects.
The role involves both planning and project management (office-based) and on-the-ground delivery (field-based), including preparing EPBC referrals, sourcing offset sites, creating management plans, engaging stakeholders, and overseeing contractors to ensure restoration milestones are met.
Responsibilities include:
Lead environmental offset projects, with a focus on City infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with offset requirements.
Oversee the full implementation of offset policies, including negotiating requirements, securing sites, managing agreements, handling financial contributions, and maintaining offset registers and databases.
Support City teams in preparing offset management plans, procurement, and conducting reports, monitoring, and fieldwork.
Manage contractors to meet restoration milestones and address site management challenges.
Provide cost estimates for potential offset receiving sites.
Attract and manage offset investments by engaging with State and Federal agencies, promoting the city's natural areas as ideal sites for development offsets.
Develop and enforce corporate governance structures to implement environmental policies.
Conduct spatial analysis, desktop research, and fieldwork to identify suitable offset receiving sites for the City.
We're looking for people who have:
Bachelor Degree of Environmental Science (Management) or Equivalent Knowledge, qualifications or experience (can include Conservation Land Management or Bush Restoration).
Five years' experience in the environmental field or leading bush restoration projects.
Previous experience in offset management is desirable.
Strong communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders, government agencies, and external partners.
Strong experience in environmental offset management, including legislative compliance and stakeholder engagement.
Proven experience in leading teams and coordinating stakeholders, including state and federal agencies, to achieve successful outcomes.
Ability to lead and manage environmental offset projects from planning through to delivery.
