If so, we want you to join our team.About Us:Based in Darwin, LGANT is the peak body representing the local government sector in the NT. We represent 16 of the 17 local government councils. Membership consists of four municipals, three shires, nine regional councils, and two associate members. LGANT provides leadership, support, representation, and advocacy on behalf of our member councils for the benefit of their communities.Key Responsibilities:The Circular Economy Advisor is responsible for driving and supporting local government to transition to a circular economy and facilitate local government participation in the NT Circular Economy Strategy initiatives.The position will:Build strong relationships with councils, Northern Territory and Australian government departments, ALGA, other state local government associations and other relevant key stakeholders.Use advanced negotiation and advocacy skills to influence public policy and decision-making, including through drafting submissions.Provide strategic advice and support to councils to develop and implement effective practicable circular economy practices.Advocate for resources and support to enhance circular economy practices, including through grant applications.Manage, coordinate and monitor grants and projects aimed at improving circular economy outcomes.Stay informed about industry developments and emerging trends in the circular economy.Conduct research and analysis to support the development of innovative solutions and strategies.Draft comprehensive reports, submissions, and policy documents based on research findings.Selection Criteria:Experience in circular economy, waste management, project management, policy development, and/or advocacy, particularly within the local government sector.Advanced analytical, advisory, research, synthesis, and negotiation skills.Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders and to convene meetings with stakeholders both formal and informal.Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a close-knit team.Strong attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise competing demands to meet deadlines.Demonstrate curiosity, a can-do and outcomes-focused attitude.Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and take initiative.Ability to maintain discretion and neutrality.Ability to travel to regional and remote areas in the NT and interstate.Understanding of the local government sector.Understanding of the cultural, political, environmental, social, technological, legal, and economic landscape in the NT.An Australian citizen or have a current, relevant visa to work in Australia.NT or interstate Driver's Licence.Recognising the importance of your contribution, LGANT offers a competitive salary package. Additionally, we provide an enhanced superannuation benefit: if you contribute an extra 2.5% of your base salary to your chosen superannuation fund, LGANT will contribute an additional 2% on your behalf.
