We are looking for a passionate professional with proven experience working within the domestic and family violence space, with the demonstrated ability to quickly build rapport and work collaboratively within diverse teams.
Our ideal candidate will also have a comprehensive knowledge of the issues affecting children and young people experiencing domestic and family violence, trauma and other presenting issues and experience in providing therapeutic intervention counselling.

About the role Primary Objective As a member of the Domestic and Family Violence Team, Child Witness Counsellors are responsible for:
Providing therapeutic intervention counselling to primary care givers, groups, children, and young people, impacted by Domestic and Family Violence, trauma, and other presenting issues.Participate in the development and implementation of psycho- educational programs and or community education services with a focus on the impact of Domestic and Family ViolenceDemonstrating positive client outcomes to be safe client outcome measures.Ensuring they provide services in accordance with relevant funding guidelines and ethical standards including services in accordance with the Family Law Act 1975.Participating in program promotion and networking to ensure financial viability of the program.Counsellors must ensure they provide services in accordance with relevant funding guidelines and standards, including but not limited to Domestic Family Violence practice standards, best practice principles, ethical responsibilities, and Catholic Care's policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience Minimum requirement, Accredited Diploma of Counselling AQF level 5, and 1- 2 years relevant experience working within the Domestic & Family Violence environment; or.3 year degree with two years of relevant experience working with children and their families.Current C or CA class driver's license (QLD).Proof of Membership and ability to maintain membership to one of the following professional associations: ACA Christian Counsellors of Australia QLD Counsellors Association Australian Community Counselling Association Inc – professional membership, ACWA, AASW and or APS.Core Competencies Work within the legal limitations around the right to confidentiality and informs service users about the legal limitations to their right to confidentiality and privacy.The capacity to be client focused, build relationships with service users through trust, rapport, and effective communication when counselling children and young people.Confident working with young people from diverse backgrounds.Demonstrated ability managing challenging behaviours.Understanding the stages of Child DevelopmentKnowledge of Critical Incident responseOther Requirements Ability to gain knowledge of the Child Safety Act 2017.Provide services in line with a Trauma Informed framework.Knowledge of the Family Law Act 1975 and relevant amendments.Thorough understanding of the issues effecting families and children during separation or crisis.Sound knowledge of issues and appropriate responses to children experiencing domestic and family violence, child abuse and or self-harm.Willingness and ability to travel across CatholicCare offices and client locations within the Diocese.The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.
