A place to make a difference: In this part-time (0.7 FTE) maternity leave backfill role (until 6 October 2025, with potential for extension), you'll work within a team to provide case management and safety planning support to women and children who are escaping or experiencing domestic violence. While your role responsibilities will centre around direct support of children in the refuge accommodation program, you will also support a small caseload of women in refuge.
The successful applicant would be required to work 7 business days across each fortnight; 3 days one week, 4 days the next week. To ensure consistent service delivery, there may be set days that you are required to work. Our standard working hours are 8.30am to 4.30pm, though the role attracts some minimal rostered on-call responsibilities.
You will make a difference by:
Facilitating the provision of safe refuge-based accommodation to women and children escaping domestic and family violenceConducting thorough risk and needs assessments, within a trauma informed, Safe and Together case management frameworkWorking with families to source appropriate, safe and sustainable accommodation free from violence and/or connecting families with services to meet their needsA place to feel valued: You're an experienced practitioner with high levels of initiative and flexibility alongside cultural sensitivity and knowledge. You're able to respond calmly and effectively in crisis and complex situations, and you work within a trauma-informed practice framework.
Bringing your best every day means having:
A Bachelor/Diploma of Social Work, Psychology or relevant Human Services qualification, and/or significant experience in a similar serviceThorough knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence, including the impact on childrenExperience working with families from diverse cultural backgroundsStrong teamwork and communication skillsWe are looking for the right fit for our team and shared values are considered as high importance. Note: In order to ensure job shadowing can take place, the successful applicant will ideally commence in the role within the first two weeks of December.
