The Child Protection (CPCS) Counsellor position is responsible for the provision of specialist therapeutic and case management services to children, young people and their families/carers who have experienced physical abuse, emotional abuse, domestic violence or neglect.


This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer.
All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined under the General questions section at Occupational assessment screening and vaccination - FAQ.
Salary will be in accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s. These awards are available at NSW Health Conditions.
A TALENT POOL MAY BE CREATED FOR FUTURE ROLES AND WILL REMAIN VALID FOR 18 MONTHS.





Bachelor of Social Work and eligible for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers or Registered Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Demonstrated extensive understanding of the dynamics and effects of physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect and domestic violence and best practice models for working with children, young people and adults who have experienced abuse and/or trauma.
Demonstrated advanced practice skills in psychosocial assessment, case management and counselling skills with children, young people and adults who have experienced physical abuse, emotional abuse, domestic violence or neglect.
Skills in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds.
Demonstrated highly developed skills in working with a team approach, alongside other disciplines and external agencies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
Ability to participate in the 24hr On Call Service as required.
Current NSW Driver's License.
