Position Overview The Child Health Nurse will be responsible for delivering child health care services and increasing access to and use of antenatal, postnatal and child and maternal health services for Indigenous Families. The Growing Deadly Families program (GDF) aims to increase access to and use of the better start to life approach which ensures more Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander children are healthy and ready for school by investing child and maternal health programs in the critical early years of life. The role provides consultation, education, liaison services to other internal and external services and organisations in the Toowoomba region.
We require a Child Health Nurse for both our Toowoomba Clinic & Warwick Clinic.
Provide education for families around good health and illness prevention, early intervention and behavioral modification for their children.Monitor progress of childhood vaccinations in accordance with current schedules.Provide child vaccinations, assisted by Carbal Registered Nurses (if necessary) and ensure accurate immunisation records are kept.Provide regular child health checks to identify and monitor appropriate child health and development.Follow up health issues of any children and liaise with General Practitioners around any health needs e.g. hearing, nutrition etc.Ensure child receives appropriate specialist and allied health involvement e.g. speech therapy, dental, early intervention services.Deliver services to the community in a culturally appropriate manner.Link and cross refer to appropriate Carbal Programs.Requirements: Current registration with AHPRA.
