EFSC's Childcare Center Management certificate program consists of courses with afocus on leadership, administration, educational programming, and the financial issuesassociated with managing a quality childcare program or daycare center. It's a greatchoice if you're interested in becoming a full-time administrator or in holding amanagement role while also teaching part-time.This certificate will prepare you to:Enter the workforce in a leadership role, such as a preschool director, licensed daycareowner, program coordinator, childcare director, or curriculum coordinatorEarn state-approved, professional certification to enhance your existing career whenusing the certificate courses as part of Director Credential training Move on to the Early Childhood Education A.S. degree, which includes this certificate'scoursesThe Childcare Center Management certificate includes a total of four courses thatrequire a combination of theoretical and practical study. You may also be eligibleto earn transfer credit toward your certificate through existing childcare-relatedcredentials or courses completed at a Brevard County public high school so check withthe program advisor to explore those options.Childcare Center Management Admissions InformationThe Childcare Center Management certificate is an open-access program with rollingadmissions. No placement testing is required! You can submit your application viaEastern Florida's standard enrollment process . Contact the EFSC program advisor for help with enrollment questions. You can alsocontact the program's manager Kelly Shaver, Associate Professor, at ****** or 321-433-5728.Background screening and fingerprinting is a Florida Department of Children and Familiesrequirement for working and obtaining licensure in this field. If you are interested in workingin early childhood education, you should view the background screening requirements , which preclude individuals with misdemeanor or felony charges or convictions fromparticipation.How Much Does the Childcare Center Management Program Cost?In-state tuition for this program is approximately $1,250 (plus additional fees forlabs and course materials). While this program is not eligible for federal financialaid due to its program length, students can use Florida Bright Futures Scholarships,Florida Prepaid, or the Nelnet Payment Plan toward the tuition and can also applyfor Veterans Educational Benefits, Titan Scholarships and outside scholarships suchas the T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Scholarship Program .Courses You'll TakeThe Childcare Center Management curriculum consists of four courses, including oneof the courses required for obtaining your state of Florida Director Credential . You must complete EEC 1200: Early Childhood Curriculum before enrolling in EEC 1942:Early Childhood Practicum. Early Childhood Curriculum Overview of Child Care Center Management Explore issues related to organizational leadership, personnel, financial and legalmatters, and child care and education programming. Conflict Resolution in Early Childhood Create safe, caring, and respectful environments for young children using reflectivelistening, trust-building, problem-solving, and more. Early Childhood Practicum Plan, implement, and evaluate lesson plans for young children as you gain experienceobserving/interpreting behavior while student-teaching.Why Train For a Job in Childcare at EFSC?HANDS-ON EXPERIENCEThroughout the program, you'll spend 80 hours doing structured, planned activitieswith young children outside of your scheduled course time. When applicable, this experiencecan occur in your place of employment, but there also also several opportunities tovolunteer in licensed child care centers throughout Brevard County. EFSC faculty canassist you with finding a convenient placement in your area.PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIESThis certificate includes the required training course for obtaining your DirectorCredential (EEC 1523: Overview of Child Care Center Management), as well as coursesthat are eligible to meet the Director's Renewal requirement.
