About the role Capital Region Community Services (CRCS) Child and Family Services has a variety of service offerings that are designed to support parents, caregivers, and education services, in their role to nurture, support and raise healthy, vibrant, and happy children and young people.
The Child and Family Practitioner will work collaboratively with the team to provide a wide range of service offerings such as: Parent/carer education in small groups and one-on-one Parent/carer and peer support groups Targeted support to early education support services Targeted interventions for children and families/caregivers Delivery of evidence-based therapeutic programs This is a full time vacancy working 38 hours per week but CRCS is open to part time arrangement for suitable candidates.
Main duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to: Works with parents/caregivers/educators through the use of evidence based parenting and therapeutic support to increase the socioemotional wellbeing of children and families.
Actively involved in the coordination, development and implementation of group programs and education sessions.
Assists Participants to identify and plan strategies to achieve their personal goals within a person-centered framework.
Develops trusting, positive and professional relationships with Participants and service providers.
Provides information to Participants and advocates when necessary to facilitate access to services.

Ideal candidate : The ideal incumbent will be able to work across the service offerings and operate as a cohesive team member in the delivery of tailored services for children, families and caregivers who may come from diverse backgrounds to ensure the best outcome for all.
In addition, the Practitioner will need to be open to working in a variety of environments including education setting, community settings and family homes.
Qualifications and experience: Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Early Childhood Education or equivalent are essential (If you are a Psychologist, current registration or eligibility for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia to practice as a Psychologist is also essential.
For Social Workers, you must be eligible for AASW Qualified Social Worker membership.)
Knowledge and understanding of mental health and socioemotional developmental issues, their relationship to child development, and strategies to support these.
Experience in the planning, facilitation and delivery of group programs.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with government and non- government stakeholders.
Desirable qualification : First Aid Certificate, Certificate IV Training and Assessment, Certification in psychoeducation and therapeutic programs such as Circle of Security, Tuning into Kids, Seasons for Growth, Theraplay etc.
CRCS also requires all employees to: Hold or be willing to obtain a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration (ACT) and/or a Working with Children Check (NSW), and have these with them at all times whilst employed by CRCS.
Undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by CRCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment.
