About Maari Ma Health Aboriginal Corporation Maari Ma Health is an Aboriginal community-controlled regional health service that has been providing a quality service to the Aboriginal people of far western New South Wales for more than 20 years and employs over 140 people within the region.
About the role Reporting to the Manager Healthy Start, this full-time opportunity involves providing a quality health service to the Aboriginal people of far western New South Wales.
Incentives for this position Retention bonus of $5,000 paid following 1 and 2 years of full-time serviceTemporary accommodation for up to 6 weeksRelocation assistance to help you get to Broken HillHome base travel allowance of $600 on completion of each 6 months of service for 2 years.Key Responsibilities Coordinating and assisting in a wide variety of child and family treatments and care activities using a patient-centered approach in a general practice clinic.Working as part of the Child and Family Program within the Maari Ma footprint to provide safe and effective Child and Family Health services and ensure continuity of care for children and families.Preceptoring and supporting Aboriginal Health Practitioners and trainees with child and family health services.Providing quality child and family health nurse services to families within the Maari Ma region, focusing on Broken Hill and Wilcannia.Using a strength-based, wellness focus to build parental confidence and skills through the provision of information, resources, interventions, guidance, and role modeling safe responsive care.Utilizing evidence-based screening tools and assessments to identify health variations or vulnerabilities and negotiate individual care plans.Working with the GP and visiting Paediatrician to provide care for children with special needs.Liaising with FWLHD staff to facilitate continuity of care for families.Partnering with Healthy Start AHPs to develop strategies to effectively access clients.Providing practical and clinical support to AHPs in the community.Delivering services in both community and clinic-based settings.Maintaining recall systems, managing bookings for clinics and referrals, and ensuring the maintenance of a current population list.Skills and experience Current unconditional registration with AHPRA as a registered nursePostgraduate qualification relevant to performing the role of a Child and Family Health Nurse.Recognized credentials in a preceptorship role or ability to complete a certified Preceptorship course within the first six months of employment.Current or ability to obtain within 3 months of commencing employment, authorization as an immunisation provider in New South Wales.Evidence of recent post-registration experience working with families and young children.Ability to work in a way that fosters mutual respect in a cross-cultural environment.Understanding and commitment to the principles of primary health care and their relation to maternal and infant health, particularly Indigenous children.High level of interpersonal and communication skills.Knowledge and understanding of the principles of population health and primary health care, especially as they relate to Aboriginal communities.Computing skills relevant to the position and competent in the use of information and communication technology.Current unrestricted driver's license and a safe driving record with the ability to undertake regular outreach travel.Maari Ma offers a great range of benefits Annual salary up to $117,600 gross per annum plus superannuation, depending on experience.Working Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.00pm, no shift, weekend, or on-call.Generous Salary Packaging up to $15,900 per year.Onsite parking, uniform, and further allowances.5 weeks Annual LeavePaid accrued days off (up to 12 per year)Christmas Closure including additional paid leave to cover the period (4 days)Flexible leave accrualPublic holidays offAnnual salary increases.Access to use our accredited health care service for you and your family (conditions apply)The Location: We are proud to work on Paakintji country.
