About the role We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a Chief Scientist to manage and support a dynamic team in the Microbiology sciences.
As the Microbiology Chief Scientist, you will become part of a passionate, vibrant, and engaged team. You will be responsible for:
Leading and supervising a team of Scientists, Technical Officers, and Laboratory AssistantsTechnical delivery of the service across QueenslandDeveloping and validating methods for detecting, isolating, and identifying microorganisms in various samplesInterpreting data and preparing detailed reports to support clinical diagnostics, research studies, and regulatory complianceStaying updated with the latest advancements in microbiology and implementing best practices in the laboratoryEnsuring that protocols and procedures are kept up to dateMentoring and coaching of technical staff to develop and grow professionally in laboratory management and testing skillsLiaising with internal staff and clients on testing schedules, methods, procedures, and resultsDeveloping and implementing quality improvement initiatives including conducting regular reviews of internal and external measures of performanceMonitoring the delivery of quality tasks in line with the Quality System manual to ensure the laboratory is performing effectively and to a high standardManagement of Work Health and Safety compliance, specifically in regard to risk management, incident management, injury management, induction and training, health and safety planning, inspections, and auditsManagement of Quality Standards ensuring that the Department delivers an efficient service of high qualityAbout you To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
