DescriptionWe are seeking a highly experienced Chief Biochemistry Scientist to lead and oversee departmental testing and operations in our laboratory.
This role involves strategic planning, client and resource management to optimize laboratory performance and support clinical needs.
Manage the department's annual operating plan and financial budgetsMonitor and report on monthly financial KPIsPrepare and submit recommendations for capital expenditureEnsure staff numbers for the department meet business requirements and KPIsPrepare, submit for approval, and implement a detailed annual business plan for the departmentEnsure business unit requirements are understood and focused onOversight of departmental testing, development and validation of methodsMaintain current scientific knowledge via appropriate resources (e.g., journals, scientific meetings, market developments in equipment and relevant technology)Ensure all work practices and procedures are in place and followed by all department employees to ensure compliance with NATA/TGA/NPACC and company systemsProactively drive quality and workflow improvement initiativesCollaborate with P&C to manage the recruitment and selection of all department employees by following the company's recruitment and selection policy and proceduresEnsure new employees receive induction to their new workplace and support the ongoing development of employees' skills and knowledge to meet job requirementsManage employee work performance and morale and address poor performance in a timely mannerEnsuring SLAs are met including client TAT requirementsProviding expert statements or witness if requiredAbout YouTo be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following essential requirements:
Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent (AIMS Recognised)6 years' experience as a senior scientist in related field with exposure across pathologyMinimum 2 years in a senior supervisory role with management of rosters, KPIs, turnaround times and performance managementProven leadership skills with ability to motivate and guide staffSelf-initiative and problem-solving capabilitiesDrive continuous improvement and innovation in laboratory practicesAbility to foster a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork and knowledge sharingExceptional attention to detail and accuracyThis role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseasesSalary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience
