Western Australia Return Recycle Renew Limited (WARRRL) is a not-for-profit organisation designated by the WA Government to manage the Containers Deposit Scheme.Operating as Containers for Change, the program has established over 270 refund points, fostering employment through various organisations. To date, it has successfully diverted more than 3.4 billion containers from landfills, returning $340 million to Western Australians, including nearly $13 million to local charities and community initiatives. Moving forward, the organisation will place a stronger emphasis on the commercial and industrial sectors while increasing investment in public space collection.This Role:WARRRL is seeking an innovative and results-driven Chief Operating Officer with the remit to ensure that its operational activities align with its strategic objectives and statutory obligations.The newly created role of COO will also oversee the Assurance and Integrity function and optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of WARRRL's container recovery to recycling supply chain. This includes refund point operators, logistics service providers, processing service providers, material recovery facility partners, and approved recyclers.This key leadership position will also drive operational excellence while maintaining compliance and integrity throughout the organisation.Working closely with the CEO and the executive leadership team, you will have accountability for implementing the strategic plan and achieving operational performance targets. You will be tasked with the operational leadership and your accountabilities include:Overseeing daily operations to optimise systems, resources and processes.Aligning network operations with strategic growth initiatives.Monitoring financial performance of operations, ensuring recovery targets and operational KPI's are met.Managing external stakeholder relationships for operational activities, assurance, and compliance.Guiding the strategic priorities of the Assurance and Integrity team and the Network Delivery Team, fostering a culture of accountability.About You:With a passion for sustainability and the environment, you will have built a track record of success in senior operational leadership and management roles. Importantly, you will also have high calibre strategic planning, financial and operational management, stakeholder relations and business planning execution skills.Whilst you will excel in a commercial business environment focused on innovation and growth, you will also be passionate about demonstrating leadership behaviours that ensures a safe, respectful and innovative culture.An understanding of the complexity of operations in the circular economy with experience in retail, consumable goods, recycling, industrial and or logistics sectors with a focus on business growth will be well regarded. Applicable tertiary qualifications with additional business post graduate studies will be viewed favourably.
