Transport Canberra and City Services are seeking an experienced leader to fill the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) from December 2024 for a period of ten months with a possibility of extension. This vacancy is to cover a period of maternity leave. Reporting directly to the Director-General TCCS, the COO is a key member of the TCCS Executive Board and contributor to the strategic direction and decision making of the directorate. The COO helps develop strategic solutions, influences change and provides timely advice and support to the Director-General with a particular focus on corporate functions, performance and reporting and the directorate's relationship with other directorates and our Minister/s office. The position must be able to operate and lead diverse teams within a dynamic, high profile and high-pressure working environment. As an Executive Group Manager, the COO is responsible for the delivery of corporate services across TCCS and must work collaboratively with all TCCS portfolios and business areas. The role also works with other ACT senior executives, and key government and non-government stakeholders to achieve strategic outcomes for the directorate. The COO has primary responsibility for ensuring the efficient operations of TCCS through the provision of corporate enabling services that support good governance and organisational integrity including: government and ministerial services; strong financial management; quality legal services; sound procurement and contract management; secure and modern information and technology services; people and workforce capability; audit and risk; and the safety and wellbeing of our people and workplaces. Ultimately, the COO is responsible for overseeing and maintaining business and corporate services that support the strategic and operational needs of the directorate. Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $344,954 - $358,775 depending on the current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $307,134. Contract: The successful applicant will be engaged under a short-term contract for a period of 10 months.
