Job Description:
The Chief of Staff is responsible for running the newsgathering operation of the newsroom.They identify the key stories to cover, assign reporters, deploy camera crews across the day and respond to breaking news.
They will work closely with the Executive Producer and the News Director to maintain the competitive advantage of Nine/NBN News.
Role Responsibilities:
Produce daily story lists and liaise with Executive Producer and News Director to compile local news content on a daily basisMonitor newspaper/radio/tv/ online/social media for breaking news and story ideasDirect and manage all reporters, camera crews and links in the field on daily basisLiaise with Nine Sydney daily on sharing of stories and news gatheringCoordinate Nine/NBN News content for website with the social media producerConduct daily story meetings (early, late morning, next day planning)Manage daily news coverage with the Executive Producer and Windows ProducerAssist regional bureau reporters in finding storiesCoach staff in systems and processDemonstrates a positive and professional communication styleParticipates in and supports a team environment The Chief of Staff is responsible for running the newsgathering operation of the newsroom.They identify the key stories to cover, assign reporters, deploy camera crews across the day and respond to breaking news.

Experience as a Journalist/ReporterDemonstrated experience in a Chief of Staff position or similarPlanning and organising of tasks in order to meet deadlinesAbility to manage workload and prioritise accordinglyAbility to work under pressureAttention to detailWell developed communication skills engages peers, customers (internal and external) in active, open and productive dialogueCan work independently or as part of a teamHas an excellent understanding of the business and newsgathering techniques and technologyAdditional Information
