Randstad Defence is currently partnering with a top-tier Defence company who are working on a critical enterprise network modernisation program.
They will lead the planning and designing of the communications, surveillance systems, and network services to support the critical air traffic control functions.
To support this program, they are looking for a Chief Network Architect.

This is a contract position based in their Melbourne office.
As the role involves working with high security networks, eligible candidates must be Australian Citizens and eligible to get a Defence Security Clearance.

About the Role Provide strategic direction to the development of architectural patterns that meet the operational requirements.
Lead the development of architectural patterns for enterprise-wide networking for an operational critical network.
Review and prepare Site Designs including interconnection diagrams, rack layouts, and Bill of materials artefacts.
Work closely with other business units and systems engineering teams to develop plans and procedures to ensure performance requirements are met.
Convert service provisioning requirements into actionable network configuration designs and ultimately configuration changes.
Keep up to date with current and new network architectures and maintain expertise in data network technologies.
Support the network monitoring team to manage, measure, monitor, and report network performance.
About you Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science with network specialisation.
10+ years experience in analysing, configuring, troubleshooting, and designing complex enterprise networks.
8+ years of experience as an engineer on large electronic systems integration projects.
8+ years domain knowledge of the Telecommunications industry, including carrier services, provisioning terminology, CISCO routers, and network infrastructure.
8+ years of experience with customer requirements reviews, design reviews, and/or test and acceptance events with the customer.
Understanding of complex WAN and LAN architectures and technologies (e.g., MPLS with Segment Routing and SD-WAN, SD-ACCESS, VXLAN & MPN methods).
Strong familiarity with Routers (Cisco ISRs, F5, Juniper CPT, and Cisco NCSs) and Firewalls (F5 preferred, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto is desirable).
Thorough understanding of most enterprise IPv4 protocols and emerging IPv6 deployments.
