Leading the one multidisciplinary team responsible for the range of ICT activity in the Office, the role is responsible for an established ICT team and provides ICT Services and support across the Office, including Help Desk services, technical experience and advice across IT, Cyber and AI to ensure the Office's systems are stable and secure.We are looking for a CIO with excellent strategic advice and communications skills, with a strong focus on results. The successful applicant will be an experienced leader who has a demonstrated record of delivery in an ICT environment.You should have:a detailed knowledge of government ICT, cyber security, AI and security policies and frameworksa strong record of project delivery in ICT projects, with a track record of good governance and change managementwell-developed communication skills, including the ability to brief the Ombudsman and other senior executives and effectively lead a multidisciplinary teamThe key duties of the position include:Duties are to be performed under broad direction from the Chief Operating Officer and in accordance with the APS Code of Conduct, upholding the APS Values and upholding the Commonwealth Ombudsman office values of independence, impartiality, integrity, accessibility, professionalism and teamwork.Provide high quality strategic and operational advice to the Office and the Senior Leadership Group on enabling our core operations through ICT with solutions that are effective, efficient and proportionate to the Office's scale and compliance obligations.Develop and oversee the implementation of key cyber security plans, strategies, policies and processes for the protection of the Office's information and systems.Oversee and enhance ICT systems, infrastructure, and processes to ensure reliability, scalability, and timely performance for current and future business needs working closely with internal business stakeholders.Deliver ICT projects and tasks using proactive mitigation strategies and appropriate governance. Drive and respond to change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.Manage and have oversight of the Office cloud environment, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, policy governance and security.Define the ICT requirements for new technology implementation and develop strategic initiatives that align with OCO business objectives.Lead and manage a small ICT team, fostering a growth mindset, as well as driving a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and promoting collaboration.Management of the ICT budget.Management and negotiation of vendor contracts ensuring they deliver high quality services that add to the Office ICT effectiveness and efficiency.Discharging and/or significantly contributing to the management of Office's responsibilities under whole-of-government arrangements and policies relating to ICT, information management, cyber security, AI and security.
