Leadership: The CFO needs to motivate the finance and other staff, delegate tasks, follow through with the Board's directives and act with ethics and integrity.
Communication: Be a succinct communicator; able to impart financial information clearly to stakeholders, breaking down complex concepts into simple terms for those without a financial background.

Strategic thinking: Assist the CEO & Board to make crucial decisions that affect the organisation's future.

Analytical aptitude: Ability to use advanced analytics to enhance operational value and steer the organisation's growth.

Support annual audit processes and the organisation's budget preparation, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements.
Have robust and compliant decision-making, financial analysis, strategic planning, and understanding of regulatory standards.
Be available to attend in person, regular Board meetings to provide a financial report and cash flow.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Professional Accounting Body Qualification/s and Membership of any of these: CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a CFO for a medium to large not-for-profit organisation or similar organisation.
Not-for-profit experience with multiple funding streams and aged care experience is highly desirable.
Advanced level ability in Microsoft office software, Xero, and applicable others.
Experience in providing monthly operational reporting for month end financials, management packs and KPI reporting, done in a manner that is understandable by anyone, especially those without a financial background, upholding transparency and accuracy.
The ability to work as an advisor and leader, providing commercial and strategic support to the CEO and the Board.
Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial reports, statements, cash flows and variance analyses.
Solid financial acumen, with demonstrated expertise in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
Experience in managing compliance, risk management, and governance (State & Federal) frameworks.
Oversee critical financial operations including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, Federal and State reporting and statutory compliance (FBT, BAS, superannuation, and insurances).
Manage capital structure, including debt, equity, and other financial arrangements.
Implement and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure legal & taxation compliance and mitigate risk.
Financial Reporting & Strategy
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, KPI, cash flow forecasting, and reconciliations to deliver actionable financial insights.
Manage statutory reporting, taxation obligations and ensure alignment with ATO & accounting standards.
Develop financial strategies, analysing data to guide decision-making and drive business success.
Federal and State reporting as required for the business.
Budgeting & Leadership
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, aligning with the region's strategic financial plans.
Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team on strategic initiatives and key projects.
Cash Flow & Business Planning
Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity and operational efficiency.
Formulate business plans, providing financial and commercial insights for growth initiatives.
