Chief Financial Officer
$200,000 + bonus + super | Perth, WA
Our client is a prominent leader in the mine construction sector, dedicated to delivering high-quality projects across Western Australia. They are committed to operational excellence and strategic growth.
As they continue to expand, we are seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead their financial operations and contribute to our ongoing success.
Position Overview:
The CFO will play a critical role in overseeing and guiding the financial management of operations. This role involves supervising daily financial activities, strategic planning, risk management, and reporting. The CFO will collaborate with senior management to support the company's financial health and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Cash Management:
Supervise the processing of cash receipts and prepare deposits for banking.
Oversee the drawing of cheques for creditor payments and subcontractors.
Produce daily cash positions and prepare weekly cash flow reports.
Check bank statements daily and produce monthly bank reconciliations.
Tax and Compliance:
Prepare PAYG returns and payments to the Australian Taxation Office.
Prepare Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns for each entity.
Manage the allocation of entries from periodical payments and bank statements.
Ensure accurate preparation and lodgement of Diesel Fuel Rebate claims when necessary.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly Financial Management Accounts, including Balance Sheets, Profit and Loss Statements, Trial Balances, Job Costs, Equipment Costs, Lease and Hire Purchase Schedules, and Asset Registers.
Supervise the preparation of the Asset Register and maintain shareholding records.
Prepare and manage month-end reporting packages and ensure completion by the 14th working day of the following month.
Operational Oversight:
Oversee debtors' controls, including follow-up on payments and reconciliation with the General Ledger.
Supervise the preparation and issuing of invoices for external charges and manage insurance cover and charges.
Liaise with external accountants and manage the company's statutory records and lodgements with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission.
Team and Administrative Management:
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, including accountants and accounts payable officers.
Manage annual accounting functions, internal and external audits, and payroll processing, including backups and compliance with awards and agreements.
Coordinate and control administrative functions and personnel duties.
General Responsibilities:
Ensure all relevant personnel complete their duties and reconciliations.
Assist Directors as required and oversee vehicle registration and credit card expenditure management.
Manage company secretarial duties, including documentation of meetings and corporate governance requirements.
Education and Experience:
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA certification is desirable.
Extensive experience (10+ years) in senior financial management roles, preferably within the construction or mining sectors.
