Chief Financial Officer

Details of the offer

06th December, 2024

Southern Waste Solutions (SWS) is the business and trading arm of the Copping Refuse Disposal Site Joint Authority. SWS is committed to innovation and resource recovery as Tasmania's largest integrated waste management organisation, operating an extensive network of waste management facilities in southern Tasmania.

SWS is focussed on growth and has an ambitious long-term strategy to optimise its key strengths for the benefit of the broader Tasmanian community. It has evolved from a landfill operator to a mature business with a solid foundation from which to invest in emerging opportunities in the waste sector, particularly guided by the Tasmanian Government's Waste Strategy and Action Plan. For further information on the organisation, please visit www.swstas.com.au.

The Chief Financial Officer will support the delivery of the organisation's strategic priorities and assist with positioning SWS as it takes a leading role in the transition to a future where waste is reduced and diverted away from landfill and into innovative, value-added products.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the role will provide leadership to the Corporate Services division and will work closely with the Board and management team in the execution of strategy and the provision of financial and commercial insights and advice. The Chief Financial Officer will oversee the day-to-day operations of a small team across finance, human resources, IT, office facilities and administration, and is responsible for building upon existing capability so that SWS is well positioned for achieving future sustainable growth.

The successful applicant will be an innovative leader with demonstrated experience in a similar senior level role, together with an extensive background in financial management/accounting and broad commercial acumen. Highly developed leadership and people management skills, a continuous improvement focus, and experience in leveraging systems to facilitate improved organisational decision-making are also required.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic operating environment in brand-new purpose-built offices and enjoy a supportive, flexible, and inclusive workplace culture. Your leadership and strategic insights will contribute to the ongoing shaping of the business for future success.
