The CFO is responsible for leading the Branch working closely with the Board and ACCC Senior Management Team to lead Finance and Property functions across the organisation.
You will have responsibility for significant interactions across government and other stakeholders. You will be a trusted advisor to the ACCC/AER Corporate Governance Board, Accountable Authority and CEO.
As a senior leader within the ACCC, you will embody, role model and promote the Secretaries Chart of Leadership Behaviours the SES leadership capabilities , and the APS Values and Code of Conduct .
As the CFO, you will:
lead a team of professionals, role modelling our leadership behaviours, supporting a professional and collaborative working environment, coaching, giving continuous feedback, resolving conflict and facilitating career development.build sustainable and productive professional relationships with key stakeholders such as the Department of Finance, Treasury and the ANAO. You will influence outcomes, including through leading and motivating others to cooperate over priorities, the use of resources, management decisions, policy frameworks and technical concepts and processes.play an active stewardship role by contributing to the success of your peers, accepting and demonstrating collective responsibility for the success of the ACCC, engaging constructively to support corporate initiatives and policies, and balancing local and broader agency priorities to seek the best outcomes for the agency.identify long-term opportunities, consider emerging trends and the whole-of-government agenda, and formulate strategies, plans and priorities which are underpinned by robust analysis and investigation.establish and ensure key governance requirements are met in terms of external audit, financial management and procurement.establish and oversee appropriate systems and internal controls are in place to safeguard the Agency's money and property.provide clear and informative financial analysis and advice to management to enable effective decision making.manage ACCC's property portfolio in accordance with the organisation's needs and appropriate guidelines, regulations and legislation. This includes ensuring effective operation of our offices to support a secure, safe and healthy work environment and minimising ACCC's impact on our environment. About you
In order to succeed in the role, you will have:
high level leadership and management skills (including intellectual leadership) and superior people management skills, including supporting learning and capability development in a complex and fast paced organisation.superior stakeholder management, communication, negotiation and influencing skills, including the ability to represent and negotiate on behalf of the department.a proven ability to engage constructively to support agency initiatives and policies, building relationships across an agency and balancing local and broader agency priorities to seek the best outcomes for the agency.an outstanding track record in leading and delivering high quality financial advice in a complex and sensitive environment, including adopting innovative approaches to difficult issues as appropriate.CA, CPA or tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, plus extensive accounting experience at the senior level. Successful applicants will undertake pre-employment screening checks, including a criminal history check, and will be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the Australian Public Service. You may also be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline or a Negative Vetting Level 1 (Secret) level security clearance.
